(I strongly suggest that you sit down
and decide for yourself exactly WHY you want to do this kind of work before you begin. The
porn business can be very ugly, and it is full of sleazeballs, many of whom will be happy
to take you in, lie to you, fill you full of booze or drugs until you can’t think
straight, then horribly abuse you so that they can videotape it. I enjoy what I do and I
enjoy working with the people that I do, but it can be a horrible business, and there are
women who have died because they got into it unprepared.)
 MAGAZINES
If you’re a woman and you want to be in men’s magazines,
the easiest way to break in, and the way I broke in, is to have someone take nude
snapshots of you and then send those in to the various magazines that hold monthly amateur
contests. Many of these contests pay $500 to $1000 for your pictures, and the editors will
contact you and set up pro layouts for you if you have the look they’re currently
seeking. The magazines that I first sent my snapshots to, all of whom have monthly amateur
contests, were HUSTLER, SWANK, JUGGS, HUSTLER’S BUSTY BEAUTIES, GENESIS, HIGH
SOCIETY, CHERI, LEG WORLD, GALLERY, GENT, LEG SEX, CLUB CONFIDENTIAL, HUSTLER’S
HOMETOWN GIRLS, TABOO, and NAUGHTY NEIGHBORS. I used to take my filmto the Walgreen’s
on Wayne Avenue in Dayton, Ohio to develop my nude shots – they’re cool with
nudes as long as there is no penetration. And they always had a big smile for me whenever
I brought in a new roll to be developed!
Go to your local newsstand, pick up copies of each one of the
magazines above (several are oriented toward big boobed girls, so use some common sense),
fill out the model release that is included there, and send in your pictures. You’ll
need two forms of I.D. Then wait for the checks to come in (it usually takes at least six
months – Hustler magazines (LFP, Inc.) pay the quickest and they pay well). Have fun.

I only really want to do PLAYBOY"…my advice to
you is, unless you have a 100% perfect body with big fake tits and you look like Pamela
Anderson, forget PLAYBOY

PHOTOSHOP OR AIRBRUSH THEM OFF YOUR BODY. IF YOU HAVE TATTOOS, THE CHANCES OF YOU GETTING
PRO LAYOUTS ARE VERY SLIM.

If you are near Dayton and you just want to have something on tape
to sell to your regulars, then contact Dan Harkless at Southern Shore Video at

shoot a full nude glamour style tape with no spread legs and no penetration. He will sell
it over the internet, and he will pay you and sell you tapes which you can sell to your

If you’re a woman and you want to break into XXX videos
– ah, there’s the rub -- go to Los Angeles, and rent a car near the airport. I
suggest Alamo because they give me the least hassle. Drive to the San Fernando Valley,
about 15 miles away up I-405N, and hit Van Nuys Blvd. Go to World Modeling, the main
talent agent for the adult business (World Modeling Talent Agency, 4523 Van Nuys Blvd.,
Ste. 203, Sherman Oaks, CA, 91403. (phone is 818-986-4316).
Jim South will take nude polaroids of you and help get you work.
But you need a car to get around town, and I advise taking along a friend so you can look
after each other. There is a cheap hotel there, the Motel 6 on Roscoe – rates run
about $50 per night. I used to stay there, and it’s a decent place as the Valley
goes, without too many hookers or pimps hanging around. Plan on being in LA for at least a
week while Jim sets up work for you, and there is a good chance that you may not even get
work that week., so don’t overextend yourself by going out. You may have to make a
separate trip out in order to shoot once you meet all the people in the biz. Also, before
you shoot, you will be required to go to AIM Healthcare in the Valley and get an AIDS test
for $90. These tests are only good for 30 days and you must always have a CURRENT test in
your possession to work.
If you are a man and you want to break into porn, the best way to
do it is to find a brand new girl, one who has not been shot yet, and take her with you to
the Valley and to World Modeling. Have her tell Jim that she is only interested in working
with YOU…PERIOD. If she’s hot, you’ll work, and that will be your foot in
the door. Good luck.
There is very little market for girl/girl hardcore work. If you
want to shoot xxx, you will be encouraged to shoot boy/girl scenes. If you are not
interested in that, don’t expect to get a great deal of work. PLEASE be very careful
while in California. Your rates will depend on whom you are working with – which
companies, which directors. As a newbie, expect to make between $500 - $1000 for a
straight boy/girl scene for a feature film, much less for gonzo films. I suggest you pick
up the current issue of AVN Magazine – Adult Video News – and read it cover to
cover to familiarize yourself with the business and what is being done BEFORE you go to
L.A.

FEATURING
The money in the porn business is the best when you’re a
feature entertainer. This is the part of the business I dearly love – traveling
around the country 44 weeks a year, putting on kick ass shows as the headliner at whatever
club you happen to be booked at that week. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FEATURE IF YOU HAVE
CHILDREN. KEEP THIS IN MIND. ALSO, MANY CLUBS WILL NOT BOOK YOU AS A FEATURE IF YOU HAVE
TATTOOS. It CAN be done if you have kids, but it is difficult, and you need a man or a
nanny who is willing to give up his own job to travel with you and help you on the road if
you have children.
I, on the other hand, don’t have children.
To begin your career as a feature, you have to have a
"name"…meaning, you have to have done something that will set you apart
from the house girls in the clubs you travel to…it might be magazine covers, it might
be porn videos, it may be pageant titles. But you have to have done something special.
You need about 12 feature costumes to begin, each of which will
cost you between $600-1500 dollars. You need props, themed shows, good music to fit the
themes of your shows, a reliable car or truck to get you around, and an agent to book you.
You also need promo shots – 100 8x10 copies of four different poses, one topless, one
nude, one clothed, one face shot. These will go to your agent and will cost you around
$400 to get printed…after you get the pictures taken by a good photographer, which is
oftentimes a separate cost unless you can "swap" with him, which means he shoots
promo for you as a trade for you shooting a nude magazine layout for him without receiving
payment. It’s done that way, believe me...good photographers aren’t cheap.
If you are serious about doing this, get your shows and outfits
together as soon as possible and call The Continental Agency (my first agent) at
727-363-7100. They are in Florida, and they will book you…they are really good about
working with new girls. Ask for Ken, and tell him Felicia Fox sent you.
His nickname, by the way, is The Antichrist, so don’t bug him
unless you’re serious.
Also, one good place to try it out if you’re interested in
featuring is the Nudes a Poppin Festival at the Ponderosa Sun Club in Roselawn, Indiana.
It is about 3 hours away. They do it twice every summer, and it is a lot of fun. Call them
